We have enlisted some of the top universities that have a good reputation and are listed in the top ranking globally and locally according to the website Top Universities

1-  American University in Cairo (AUC) 

It is ranked 416 in QS World University Rankings by TopUniversities and has an overall score of 4.3 stars, AUC is an independent English language university offering an American-style education at the undergraduate,graduate and professional levels., according to student reviews on Studyportals. Students who study in AUC are coming from 100 Countries around the world. The faculty members and lecturers include academics, professionals, diplomats, journalists, writers and others from the United States, Egypt and other countries.

2- German University in Cairo (GUC) 

The German University in Cairo is an independent Egyptian private institution, managed by a consortium of Germans and Egyptians with the vision of building a leading center of excellence in teaching and research. It is ranked #1201-1400 in QS World University Rankings 2023. GUC was Founded in October 2003, by prof Dr/Ashraf Mansour, it is the only integrated German university outside Germany that has 3 Bologna cycles, namely B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. offering 71 study programs (31 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate). 

3- British University in Egypt (BUE) 

It is ranked #1201-1400 in QS World University Rankings 2023. BUE is a private Egyptian university in Cairo. Founded in September 2005, through an inter governmental agreement, the University provides a British style of education. BUE degrees are validated by their British university partners in accordance with the UK quality assurance agency procedures. Accordingly, the most successful BUE graduates receive two awards: a UK degree and a degree accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities.

4- Cairo University 

It is one of the top public universities in Egypt. It is ranked #551-560 in QS World University Rankings 2023. It was founded in 1908 and is the second oldest institution of higher education in Egypt. It was originally founded and funded as the Egyptian University by a committee of private citizens with royal patronage in 1908 and became a state institution under King Fuad I in 1925. In 1940, four years following his death, the University was renamed King Fuad I University in his honor. It was renamed a second time after the Free Officer Coup of 1952. The University currently enrolls approximately 155,000 students in 22 faculties. It counts three Nobel Laureates among its graduates and is one of the 50 largest institutions of higher education in the world by enrollment.

5- Ain Shams University  

Ain Shams University was founded in July 1950, the third-oldest native public Egyptian university, under the name of Ibrahim Pasha’s University. When it was first established, Ain Shams University had a number of faculties and academic institutes, which were later developed into a university. Today, Ain Shams University includes more than 170,000 students, 5000 staff members, 4000 assistant staff and more than 100 centers and special units.

6- Misr International University (MIU)  

Misr International University was established in 1996, in Maadi, The University changed its location to km 28 Cairo-Ismailia Road. It is ranked 18 among the country’s universities and comes in 6195 in the global ranking. 

Misr International University offers a unique educational experience in which both Egyptian and Western systems are merged, enabling the university to continuously upgrade by developing new courses, and applying the latest educational methodologies. Misr International University’s mission for the next two years is to expand the focus of the institution by establishing a postgraduate program. Additionally, MIU plans to introduce new fields of specialization in different faculties.
